Alameda Special Education Family Support Group (ASPED Families) Workshop

This Wednesday, December 6th, 6:30-8:30 pm, at Franklin Elementary School.

Resilience, Coffee and Community: How Parents Advocate for Children with Special Needs
Presented by Sarah Taylor, MSW, PhD, Associate Professor, CSU East Bay

Following the presentation a panel of parents and professionals in their field will discuss advocacy strategies. All are welcome!

Upcoming Student Performances

Mark your calendars for upcoming performances by Wood students!

Mr. Moreno's Play Creation Lifeskills class will perform their own play, Lost and Found, on Thursday December 7 at 3:30 pm, and Friday, December 8 at 7 pm.

Mr. Reis's Band classes will have a concert on Thursday, December 14 at 7 pm.

All performances will be in the Multi-purpose Room. Everyone is welcome to attend!


Cookie Dough is Coming!

Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough will arrive on Monday December 11!

Cookie dough pick up will be 2:45-3:30 pm, outside the MPR.

The school does not have storage, so this is your only opportunity to pick it up!

City of Alameda Community Needs Survey

The City of Alameda is conducting a survey of how residents think that federal funds for housing, community development, and social service projects should be spent. Please take the survey!

Information collected by this survey will be useful for the City of Alameda, the Alameda Unified School District, and Alameda social services agencies as they plan for the future of Alameda.

Please assist us by completing the survey by December 11 at midnight.

Join the Wood School Site Council (SSC)

The school site council is an important advisory committee that meets monthly to develop, maintain and evaluate school plans and budgets.  Parents and staff, elected by their peers, meet with Principal Harris to discuss school programs and improvements.  If you'd like to join, please ask in the office for your name to be added to the SSC ballot.  Questions?  Email Blanche Kim at
