This Week's Updates

Come to Multicultural Night, this Friday, Feb. 23rd and show off your culture!

Bring food to share and join in the fun.  There will be entertainment, great food, and a raffle. Dress in clothing from your country and receive a free raffle ticket. You could win the grand to Disneyland!  Click here for more information.

Volunteers are needed throughout the evening. Adults are encouraged to sign up; this is also a great opportunity for high school students to get community service hours! Sign up here.

Pizza for Pets Fundraiser

Ms Brown's Animal Welfare class will have a Pizza for Pets fundraiser Wednesday, February 21st at 3pm.

Her students will be selling pizza, and all proceeds will be donated to FAAS.

Golden Sneaker Contest and More....

The Golden Sneaker Contest is back! For two weeks -  Feb 26 - March 9 - students will track travel modes to school. The class with the highest percentage of students walking, biking, carpooling or taking the bus will win the coveted Golden Sneaker trophy!

In addition, there will be assemblies about getting to and from school safely, presented by Safe Routes to School:

Step Up -  A high-energy interactive show that is part rock concert, part game show. The show discusses safety skills necessary for students to independently navigate by walking, biking, or taking transit. It also starts to introduce concepts students will have to face as they begin driving with older students who are new drivers, such as texting while driving and drunk driving.

  • Monday, Feb 26, for 6th-8th graders
  • Tuesday, Feb 27th, for 4th-5th graders

Wood PTA would like to thank our Safe Routes Chairs, Allen Yip and Blanche Kim, for bringing these events to our school.

Does Your Student Need Community Service Hours?

By registering with Remind, your student can get Community Service Opportunity information and alerts by text.

Here's how it works:

  1. Add Remind number 81010 to your contacts.
  2. Start a new text to 81010.
  3. Send the message @woodcommu
  4. You'll get a confirmation text; follow the instructions to register, using your full name.
  5.  When you get a text alert, follow the instructions to register to volunteer at the event.

Please note: You don't need the Remind app to receive texts.

Coffee with Cammie

Ever wonder what happens at Coffee with Cammie? Besides the coffee, tea and goodies, there is great conversation. Topics so far have included: how to make pick up/drop off safer, books about raising teenagers, screens and teens, homework, budget cuts, and so much more. Come to the next one on March 2nd and add your voice to the conversation!

If you can help out, please sign up here.

Challenge Day a Success!
