Underground Teen Center

THE UNDERGROUND TEEN CENTER

FREE Drop In Program for 6th to 12th Graders in Alameda

 

Monday through Friday, August 25, 2014 to June 11, 2015

3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Underground Teen Center has computers, big screen TV, pool table, video games, ping pong, board games, music, snack bar, and adult supervision.  There is no charge to use The Underground.  Participants need to register at the center and must sign-in and sign-out on a daily basis. 

 

Club Underground (6th-8th Grades)

After school transportation is provided to THE UNDERGROUND TEEN CENTER from AUSD Middle Schools (see below for list of schools and ride cost).  Transportation is not available on public school holidays, AUSD staff development days or unscheduled early release days. Participants must be registered before allowed to ride in the City/ARPD vehicles.  DO NOT BE LATE AS WE HAVE LIMITED VEHICLES AVAILABLE FOR PICK UPS.

 

Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday       Pick up: 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.  

Wednesday                                                         Pick up: varies by school

Fee: $2 per one-way trip OR $20 ride pass available (10 rides)

After School Program

WMS Launches New After School Program – Welcome to the QUAD

On Monday, 9/26/16, the QUAD at WMS will be open to all WMS student. The QUAD is a free afterschool program designed to empower students to become independent, self-directed, lifelong learners who are prepared to attend the college of their choice. The QUAD will serve over 120 students daily. The enrichment classes were created by student focus groups and align with the integrated curriculum from the regular school day. ESL and SED students are encouraged to attend. Learning for a purpose will increase student interest, productivity and academic performance. In addition, providing student mentors and leadership roles help support adolescent social-emotional needs and growth.

The QUAD offers:

  • After School Strategic Tutorial and Homework Centers for 120+ students
  • Study Skills Tutorial
  • Bilingual Literacy Programs
  • Reading and Math Programs
  • Expanded Library Hours for Research and Academic Preparation
  • Mentoring Program
  • Drama, Arts & Crafts, Music, Dance and “SportsAdemics”
  • College Awareness
  • Culinary Arts
  • Community Service Learning Projects

PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Forms are in the office.

Snack donations are welcome. Granola bars, juice boxes, etc.
